BEAT the s t i n k

Let's face it. Everyone's garbage gets a little stinky from time to time. Well, truly, if you're like me - it gets REALLY stinky, a lot of the time (country life, y'all). 😆

I like to make up a batch of these garbage can freshener tabs every so often to help beat the stink! Then, just pop one (or two) in the bottom of your garbage can and let it work its magic. The baking soda, Epsom salt, water and essential oils form a hard cub and absorb the odors naturally. 🍋

The best thing y'all, is that these guys last anywhere from 2 weeks to a month! Just change them out whenever you start to notice the stink coming back.

GATHER INGREDIENTS:

  • 2 cups Baking Soda (I use Arm & Hammer)

  • 1 cup epsom salt

  • up to ¼ cup water

  • 15 drops essential oil – lemon, peppermint, and lavender are great choices

  • silicone ice cube tray << buy one here, if you don't have one!

MIX, MIX, MIX IT UP:

1. In a bowl, stir to combine the baking soda and epsom salt.

2. Slowly add the water, as needed; fizzing is normal. Mix until it's a thick and crumbly paste. 3. Add the essential oils and combine (I love mixing a lemon and lavender oils).

4. Push the mixture into the trays and allow to dry for at least 24 hours - outside in the sun works best.

5. When the cubes are dry, they should be very hard, remove them from the tray and store them in a glass jar with a secure lid.

Use them as needed in garbage cans, diaper pails, garbage disposals, or any space that needs a little freshening!
